This is Maggie. She is about 3 years old. She is a WONDERFUL dog, and it saddens us to have to move her. This is NOT a first come first serve deal. We really care about her, and want to be sure her new home is a good fit. Price is negotiable contingent on certain conditions.
She is a mixed breed. We suspect lab and mastiff (she?s a larger dog)
She is housetrained. At our house, she sleeps in a crate at night, and although she tries to sneak it in sometimes, she isn?t allowed on the furniture. She has always been around children, and she?s never had an issue with our daughter who likes to get her attention by grabbing her nose and tail. We?ve also had a cat in the house with her- our cat is pretty assertive, also has never been an issue. We?ve also always had other dogs in the house until just recently. She has never demonstrated any issues with other dogs, and she loves to play (her size could be an issue with any REALLY small dogs.)
She does have a few quirks about her: She does not care for rabbits. She will chase them (although she hasn?t caught one yet, she can run fast)
If outside unattended, she can jump over some fences. Once in the back yard she jumped over a 4 foot fence so she could get to the front door and beg to come in. However, we have a small baby gate up in the entrance to our kitchen, and she has never attempted to get through it no matter how desirable anything on the other side of the gate may have been.
Additionally, and probably the biggest concern, or benefit, is she is very protective. Once she has established her boundaries she is very vigilant in protecting everyone.
Maggie has never hurt anyone, but she is a big dog, and has a loud bark. If someone comes in the house that she doesn?t recognize, she will bark, which is intimating to some people. She knows commands (sit, come, lay down, paw shake, up). She is up to date with everything, and has been spaded.
She loves attention, and would genuinely make a wonderful companion to the right family. For those that would like to skip the step of training a small puppy, and are looking for someone to love them, and protect them, Maggie is an excellent companion.
